On 25th May 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), (EU) 2016/679 came into direct legal effect. GDPR can be described as ‘technology neutral’ and the focus is firmly on accountability, responsibility and transparency in all business transactions.
The GDPR harmonises data protection and privacy for all individuals within the EU, in addition to enhancing their rights as it gives a greater degree of control over personal data.

What is Kerry County Council doing?

Kerry County Council has a proactive approach to the implementation of the GDPR. The existing data protection policies and privacy notices will be continually updated and expanded to include the various business functions/services throughout the organisation.
